Why French Names?

These days the UK has some of the best restaurants in the World. Our leading chefs are known for their innovation not just their skills and lead world trends. Customers can now eat high quality cuisine not only in fine dining restaurants but also in their local pub, which just wasn’t the case a decade or so ago. Some say that our restaurants and pubs serve a higher standard of cooking than the French. Why then do we still use French terminology when describing kitchen job describtions (with the notable exception of Head Chef). Surely it’s time English versions of Sous, Chef de Partie, Commis etc should be widely used? Send your thoughts to
